Tasks include filling in polls, watching videos and searching using its page instead of Google. Advertisers pay Swagbucks to publicise their wares or do market research, and the site passes a cut to you. The more dedicated you are, the more you earn, though every task pays a different amount.

It's possible to get paid hard cash just for searching the web with Qmee*. It just involves downloading an add-on that sits on your internet browser. You then search online as you normally would on Google, Amazon, eBay, Yahoo, Bing and Tesco.

Qmee will show extra results or adverts alongside normal search results (see picture). Some firms pay Qmee to appear in these ads, and Qmee gives you a cut of the cash. If the Qmee result interests you, click it and you'll earn a few pence, usually 7-15p.

Online earning site Gift Hunter Club doles out points for watching videos, doing polls, entering competitions and completing other easy tasks.

As with Field Agent, when firms need easy market research done, it's sent out via the app. Roamler typically pays £4 per task, but it can vary between £2 and £10.

Clic and Walk really is something to do for fun rather than the £s. I quite enjoy the little photo missions. I am going to keep doing it for the jollies, but anyone looking for a quick payout should look elsewhere.

You usually need a degree to apply, but heaps of MoneySavers have been accepted. It says it usually has 150 jobs on offer at any one time.

What's the work like?

The web firm offers several part-time posts, most aimed at helping companies improve their search engine results. Tasks can include checking search results, gathering data and testing mobile apps.
You choose your hours and don't have to travel from A to B, perfect if you want to earn cash while staying at home with the kids. You must work a minimum of 10 and maximum of 20 hours per week.

This is something we thought hard about before including. Yet as many who know exactly what they're doing make serious risk-free cash, we wanted to include it.
It's all about taking advantage of the offers betting sites run to encourage new players, usually involving free bets (eg, "bet £30 and we give you a free £30 bet"), and the fact different bookmakers offer different odds.
Thus, in some circumstances, by betting on all outcomes you guarantee a profit, whatever the outcome. However, this is complex and dangerous, and most people should run a million miles.

Don't ever contemplate attempting it unless you've done detailed research.

Here are the key points:

Internet companies such as AQA (formerly 63336) are occasionally on the lookout for researchers. It works like this: a customer sends a text to researchers to ask the answer to a random question. The researcher - you - replies with an answer.
The beauty of this work is that you can generally choose the type of questions you answer, and the hours you work. Check for vacancies on the AQA site or on its Facebook and Twitter pages. You'll have to pass a test before you get an interview.
There aren't vacancies all the time, but you can follow AQA on Twitter and we'll update here too. A spokesman tells us that they'll be hiring at the end of August, so be sure to check then if you're keen to get involved.

Always wanted to have a crack at the old writing game? Now's your chance. Textbroker pays for content for adverts, websites and newsletters. The company acts as a middleman between clients and writers, taking a cut from each piece sold.
Typical payments are £5 to £30 per article, and forumites have written about everything from sport and wildlife to finance and casinos. Some MoneySavers have suggested that article acceptions can be patchy and it's often slow to accept new writers - a couple of things to watch out for.
We're not talking Stephenie Meyer's Twilight sums. But some forumites, such as Sinkorswim, are turning over a grand a year:

Consumer opinions site Dooyoo pays up to 60p for each product review you write. The amount you get depends on the product's category. For popular products it's 60p and many electronic items 30p, but for others, such as books, it's only 10p.
Reviews need to be at least 250 words long, though try to stick to your personal experiences rather than padding with lists of technical specs.
Once you rack up £20, you can convert it into a £20 Amazon voucher. Beware: Dooyoo points ("miles") expire after one year, and a few MoneySavers have been caught out.
Committed reviewers, such as MoneySaver jenniewb, have made bundles of cash.

In two months, I have reviewed literally everything I have used bar one or two uninteresting items, and have earned myself £70.

Earn cash from your blog or websiteAmazon Associates

If you've a blog or website, set up a free account with Amazon Associates, a scheme where you earn Amazon vouchers for linking to the site.
Just follow the steps to add links and banners to your website. When someone clicks on Amazon from your site and makes a transaction, it's recorded and you're paid 1%-12% commission, which you get in the form of cash or an Amazon discount.
What you earn depends on how much you sell and what category it's in - for example, you get 1% commission from TVs and smartphones and 12% from watches and jewellery. (See a full list of payments.)
Though don't just fill your site to the brim with Amazon links. What works best is ensuring you've quality editorial content, then adding the links after.
Products bought by you personally won't count towards your commission, nor will anything ordered for delivery to your home address or paid for on your credit card.

Unsigned music review site Slicethepie pays you for each song you rate. As you build up a reputation, you can earn more. Read the site's tutorials before you start.
Typically, a dedicated fan willing to put in a couple of hours each night could expect to earn around £30/month, though forumites report this can vary. The amount you earn from each review differs depending on the track, length and detail of the review.
You can also earn more by encouraging friends to sign up - you'll receive a bonus of 10% of their earnings so, if they earn $0.20 for a review, you'll get $0.02.

Nostalgic for the days of Mad Men-era typing pools? Transcription company Take Note pays typists around £8/hour to type up audio.
You need Microsoft Word, at least a C in GCSE English and must be able bash out at least 65 words per minute. It pays per minute of audio, and not minute of your time, so it's only worth it for super-fast typists (take a speed test to see how you measure up).

To apply, you take tests in typing speed, formatting and English language. You must sign up for at least two shifts per week, roughly six hours each (evenings and weekends are available).

I'm one of their freelance transcribers and so far so good – payment's been on time every month and it works out at £7 - £9 an hour.

Cash in: 12 ways to earn extra money online

If you want to make a little spending money from home or earn a full-time salary, now’s the time — especially if you have a computer. Just going online opens up a host of opportunities. The trick is knowing which businesses are legitimate. Here are my top picks.
Sell your craftsDo you knit? Make jewelry? Sew? If so, there are lots of opportunities to sell handmade wares online. As a member of Etsy (), you’ll have your own online store to showcase your items. It’s free to become an Etsy seller, but you’ll pay a fee of 20¢ to list an item with up to five photos for four months. When the item sells, you pay a 3.5 percent commission to Etsy. There’s no limit to how much you can charge, and what you earn is based on how your crafts sell.
Make money from your talentAt Fiverr (), you can offer services that use your skills — designing a business card, creating a podcast jingle, planning a trip — for five bucks a pop. Fiverr keeps $1 and the seller gets $4 per gig. Stefanie Strobel, 28, of Newport Beach, California, writes people’s messages in the sand at the beach and takes a picture that she then emails to them. “I make about $300 per month and can do about 10 to 15 messages per hour, depending on length and complexity,” says Stefanie.
Be a nurse on call If you’re a registered nurse, consider a company like Fonemed (), which provides phone-based triage and medical information to their customers in Canada and the U.S. These companies contract with medical-related clients, mostly doctor’s offices and especially pediatrician’s offices, to answer questions when the offices are closed (the work hours are typically evenings, nights and weekends). You must be licensed in the state or province where you are located and have at least three years of recent clinical experience with adults and children. Fonemed nurses are paid an hourly minimum plus a fee per call, and are eligible for benefits like health insurance and paid leave. A typical Fonemed nurse makes $27 per hour, according to Fonemed owner Charlene Slaney.
Write, edit, proofreadSites like Demand Studios () and Associated Content () hire experienced freelance writers, editors and filmmakers to work on projects for sites like eHow, LiveStrong.com and YouTube. At Demand Studios, assignments pay anywhere from $15 to $100; if you meet tenure and activity requirements, you can be eligible for health insurance plans. At Associated Content there are three ways to earn money: Upfront payments for content you write ($2 to $15 per article), assigned articles ($10 to $100 per article) and performance payments ($1.50 for every 1,000 page views of your article if it’s posted online).

Design graphics and websitesElance () works like an online marketplace, setting up designers and computer programmers with companies that need their services. Companies post jobs and freelancers bid on them, listing their experience, portfolio and the price they will charge for the job. If your bid is chosen, you’ll pay Elance a commission of 4 to 6 percent of what you earn.
Tutor kids or adultsIf you have a college degree or are currently enrolled in college and think you have the skills to tutor math, science, English or social studies, tutoring online might fit you perfectly. Check out Tutor.com, where tutors work as independent contractors and earn around $10 to $14 per hour based on the subject and hours worked. Very active tutors can earn anywhere from $800 to $1,600 a month.
Give adviceKnow a lot about medicine or car repairs? JustAnswer () is a paid question-and-answer site that’s growing its community of experts in the medical, legal and financial fields, as well as in other specialties like car repair and home improvement. Registered customers ask a question and then name the price they’re willing to pay (usually from $10 to $40) for an expert answer. The expert usually responds within an hour, and once the customer accepts the answer, keeps from 25 to 50 percent of what the customer pays. How much experts earn depends on how many questions they’ve had accepted by customers. Experts are vetted through a fairly grueling process, with credentials, education and background verified.
Provide customer serviceMany retailers are outsourcing their customer service operations to third-party companies like Alpine Access () and Working Solutions (), who in turn contract with home-based workers. The reps, who typically work 20 to 40 hours a week, take calls for large and small companies. The hourly rate is about $9, but agents can earn up to $13 with incentives and bonuses or up to $30 for special projects. Some companies offer benefits like health and dental insurance and a matching 401(k) plan. LiveOps () is similar, but service reps operate as independent contractors, typically invoicing LiveOps $10 to $15 per hour depending on the type of call and performance. And with LiveOps you can work as many hours as you want. The hiring process is rigorous: Expect a comprehensive written or online application, skills exam, phone interview and background check.
Make a little spending moneyWhen career librarian Rachel Singer Gordon, 40, of Lombard, Illinois, quit her job in 2005 to take care of her children and pursue freelance writing, she knew she’d need to find other sources of income to supplement her writing. She dove headlong into couponing and frugality, and became a wizard at finding ways to earn money online. Soon Rachel was bringing in small amounts of income from lots of sources she calls “multiple profit centers.” “They’re the equivalent of a nice, steady part-time job,” says Rachel. In 2009, she started the blog Mashup Mom () to share all the stuff she was learning. In fewer than two years, the blog has become yet another profit center for Rachel, as has her first book, Point, Click, and Save: Mashup Mom’s Guide to Saving and Making Money Online. Tap into multiple profit centers with Rachel’s favorites.

Give your opinion. At MySurvey.com, Surveyhead.com or ValuedOpinions.com, you can sign up to take surveys about products and services and get paid for it. Sites typically pay $2 to $5 per completed survey and will send you a check or deposit to your PayPal account, or gift cards or merchandise once you reach $20 in your survey account. Scam alert! There are lots of survey sites out there, but not all are trustworthy. Avoid participating in anything that charges a fee up front to participate. “I try to take three or four surveys each week while the kids are watching TV, and that brings in $20 to $30 per month,” says Rachel.
Search the Internet. Rachel loves to scour the Web, and one of her favorite things to do is use Swag Bucks (falsehttp://www.swagbucks.com

No-risk matched betting
Hands down the quickest way to make a lot of money (well, without breaking the law). Lots of students have genuinely made £100s from this technique. It’s completely legal, risk free, tax free, and anyone can do it.
It works by taking advantage of free bets regularly offered by betting sites through ‘matching’ them at a betting exchange. Matched betting eliminates the risk (you are betting both for and against a certain outcome).
This leaves you being able to squeeze out the free bet, which can be as much as £200! Multiply this by how many betting sites there are and you can quite easily come away with a profit of a few hundred pounds.

For a few minutes of form filling, you can make a couple of quid which is paid as cash or rewards. You can bag up to £3 ($5) for some surveys!

Social Investment Networks
The historically hard-to-break world of investing in stock markets and currencies has been cracked wide open. Today there is no need to be a fat cat or fund the yachts of Wolf of Wall Street style stock brokers. You can do it all yourself with the help of free online market trading platforms.

Sell your notes
If you don’t mind sharing your notes with other students it’s a great way to generate a little extra cash. There are sites out there that you can upload your notes to, along with your price, and then when another student downloads them you get paid.
Sites like Notesale are free for you to list your notes but tend to take a cut of your profit in order to handle the marketing etc so that you don’t have to go out there and promote your notes yourself.
You will most likely have to upload PDFs but it’s worth it for the return and you can submit handwritten notes but you’re likely to make more money if they’re typed up.

Buy them in this window at normal retail price and you can turn a nice profit when they go off sale for another decade or so.
For example, in 2011 you could buy Beauty and the Beast on Blu-ray 3D for just £24.99. In just a couple of years it was on Amazon for a staggering £74.99!Importantly, not all Disney releases are subject to the vault and only the true classics will maintain such demand.
Right now there are just 2 titles out of the vault which I would recommend snapping up. They are Bambi Diamond Edition Blu-ray and Cinderella Diamond Edition Blu-ray.
‘Get Paid To’ sites
Similar to making money from online surveys, GPT sites reward you in cash and vouchers for completing various offers or activities online.

If you’ve ever seen the film The Social Network then you’ve most likely had your brain spinning as to what website you can start-up to make you billions.
And of course there are lots of stories out there about successful students who have started a site while at university, or even bought a domain name and later sold it for 1000s.
In fact, Save the Student is one such example of a website started at university by Owen Burek in his first year, which has since grown into a full-time and successful enterprise.

Write and publish a Kindle eBook
If students are good at anything, it’s researching and writing. With the Amazon Kindle store, anyone can publish an eBook and make money.
And the Kindle app is now available on almost any device (laptops, iPads, smartphones and yes, Kindles) so your global market is huge!
List your book for £1.49 – £6.99 and you earn 70% of the sale. Considering Amazon is the ultimate selling machine (and remember people are looking to spend), that is a fantastic deal.
The key to success with eBooks is to create value, and write non-fiction. Simply bundling information you have researched and complied on a common problem (eg. ‘secrets’ to finding a job) and then presenting it in an easy to digest format (an eBook) justifies someone spending a few quid on it.
Another big tip is to have a great cover designed so it stands out, and once your book is live on the Kindle store it’s really important to get some reviews so it shows up higher in results. Encourage readers to leave an honest review at the end of your book.

Affiliate marketing
If you’ve got a good presence on social media or perhaps you even have a blog or website, you can start bringing in money immediately by promoting all sorts of companies, products, services and offers online.
Sign up to an affiliate network such as Affiliate Window, check their offers blog or browse the merchant listings to find something you think your friends would be interested in, grab your affiliate link and share it. If someone buys (can be within up to 90 days) using your link you’ll make a nice commission.
To take it a step further, set up a website (read our guide) or a topical Facebook page and invite all your friends to join it and post your affiliate offers on there.
Mobile phone recycling

You can get some good money and help the environment by recycling mobile phones with certain companies listed on the comparison tool. But be aware: you won’t always get the quoted cash since it depends on ‘condition’. Become a ‘Clickworker’

The Clickworker.com concept is based on ‘internet crowd-sourcing’ where businesses advertise specific, scalable tasks they need completing quickly. And for us, it’s an easy way to make fast cash from our couch.
There are a variety of tasks, but most commonly they involve mindless data entry, web research or form filling. You are rewarded and paid in cash (via Paypal) for the work you do, and you can choose for what and when you work. Give it a go. [If you’re US based, also try Amazon’s ‘Mechanical Turk‘].

Many students work part-time or during the summer months, and others will be on placements or paid internships. More often than not, if you are a student working during the year, you will be overpaying income tax.

This is not only a way to make money but also to save money as a student. If you look at it in a different way then you are making money with every purchase you would have made anyway, whether it be 10% or 0.5% cashback.
There are a number of cashback sites out there which pay you the commission they otherwise would have earned.
We recommend signing up with Top Cashback, Quidco.com & Swagbucks which are free and offer the best selection of retailers and exclusives.
A part-time job
A part-time job is the obvious first choice, opted for by most students looking to supplement their student loan. It provides a pretty steady flow of income and can enable you to gain valuable work experience.
However, depending on where you live, jobs are not always easy to find. Check local classifieds, our student job search, student job websites and your university careers service for vacancies.
It’s also worth signing up with the Graduate Recruitment Bureau, a free service which will match you with both part-time jobs or graduate opportunities.

Gigs on Fiverr
Fiverr is now the world’s largest marketplace for people to make money selling small services (known as ‘gigs’).
What you offer could be absolutely anything, from writing and translating, social media posting, playing pranks and teaching to creating music, voiceovers and short video clips for people all around the world!
The default price is $5 (hence Fiverr..), but you can attach extra services to gigs for more money. Whilst it might not seem like much, it can quickly add up and there are plenty of examples of people making a really good living from the site. The key is to get a system in place which minimises the time spent on each gig.
But there is another way to profit even more from Fiverr for potentially far less work. How? By simply reselling gigs elsewhere. For example, find a decent logo designer then reply to jobs on Elance or even local classifieds. A $5 spend can easily become $50+, and it’s repeatable!
If you’re not interested in selling at all there’s SO much good stuff you can get done for yourself. Have a browse and get inspired!
Review music for money
If you love music, make it your business by reviewing unsigned bands and artists online for cash with Slicethepie.
It can take a while to build up your reputation but some users of the site have said that they earn £40 a month. This may not sound like much, but if it’s something you enjoy then it shouldn’t be hard work and is another thing for your CV. Money you earn will be in $US but anyone can sign up and review.

Sell second-hand course books
One great way to make money is to buy other students’ text books at the end of the year, and then sell them just after freshers’ week – when the new intake of students know that they need them!
You can either advertise on campus or list them online very easily on Amazon.co.uk Books Trade-In (just bear in mind they take a commission on books sold).

Competitions
Entering competitions of course comes with no guarantees, but there is a growing community of so-called ‘compers’ in the UK consistently making up to £50,000 a year through all sorts of competitions.
Types of competitions available to enter range from simple registration forms and Facebook page liking to answering questions correctly over the phone to being a TV game show contestant. Imagine you made it onto Deal or No Deal instead of just watching it!

Then head to our active competitions page to enter other free competitions that we have found. Just note that some of these sites may send you spam so use an alias email address and opt-out of as many of the offers as possible.

Buy and sell domain names
A domain name is just a website address (eg. ‘savethestudent.org’ or ‘mysite.co.uk’) and there are lots of extensions (.com, .net, .co.uk etc).
They cost as little as £1.99 to register with 123-reg.co.uk or GoDaddy.com yet premium domain names can fetch £1,000s if not millions when sold on. In 2007 VacationRentals.com went for a cool $35m!
Now you’re probably not going to come across anything like that, but you can still turn a quick profit with a bit of searching. The trick is to find available domain names which have some commercial value, snap them up and then list them for sale on a site like Sedo.com.
Mystery shopping
Today becoming a mystery shopper is easier than you think and you can get rewarded handsomely.
We’ve recently come across a really fun smartphone app called Roamler that pays you in cash for completing various tasks in your local area. So definitely check that out first!
More traditionally, there are plenty of agencies that pay you to visit all sorts of shops to feedback on how they are performing. For more info on where to apply see our guide to becoming a mystery shopper.
Be an extra
Do you fancy yourself as a budding young actor or just that person that walks past in the background shot of an episode of Eastenders? It could be you if you apply to be an extra.
The pay isn’t bad either – £60-80 a day on average, and you hardly have to do anything!
You can apply at Be On Screen for a number of opportunities or 2020 casting is another agency (just know they take a cut from your earnings).
Sell all your old CDs, games and movies
If you are looking to make a very quick buck, then selling your old bits and bobs that are cluttering up your room is a good idea.
The best thing about it is that you can rip all the songs and films onto your laptop or external hard drive before selling them. This means that you are only really selling the plastic and artwork!
You can earn anything from 10p to £20 per item, and the earnings can really add up if you have a large collection. Whilst you’re at it, see if your parents have any ‘clutter’ they’d be happy to see the back of.
You can also sell almost anything for free on Amazon Trade-In or Preloved and sites like MusicMagpie will pay you instantly for sending in unwanted items.

Sell on your education!
Become a tutor to local GCSE or A-level students (find out more about tutoring here). There are now a few online tutor sites too, so you can go also global without too much hassle.
You may feel as if you aren’t qualified to be a tutor, but seeing as you are at university you will most likely have the qualifications to tutor for GCSE or even A-Level. Some parents may feel that their child will react better to a younger tutor, and it can be great experience, so why not give it a go?
You can advertise on SchoolsTrader or sign up with UK Tutors. You can expect to earn around £10 an hour. However, make sure you don’t have to do too much tutoring around your exams!
Sell your photos
If you think you’ve got a good shot and a little creativity, try uploading your photographs for free to stock websites. A good starting point is Fotolia or istockphoto.
Make more money selling photo subjects that people are demanding, and there’s a great resource to find this out here. It might be a good idea to test them out in print first yourself (get free photo prints here).
Rent out your car parking space
Some student accommodation comes with a drive or garage. If you aren’t using your parking space and you live in a busy area then you might be in luck. There are plenty of people that may work in the city centre and are fed up of paying through the roof for daily parking.
Advertise your space on Gumtree, Parklet or Just Park.

Work as a charity collector
Ok so this job takes a certain kind of person, as you’ll have to take a lot of rejection and be persistent.
But if you are bubbly, personable and reckon you could sell ice to an Eskimo then this could actually be a great student money making idea. You get paid commission on new sign ups (typically around £20).
Have a look at Wesser as well as charity websites like Oxfam.
Babysitting
It’s a classic money-maker, and for good reason. You get paid (well) to watch TV and not very much else!
Be warned that you will need a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check to look after small children, even though some parents may not ask for one. If you are wondering what to charge, look at local Gumtree ads, but you can expect to be paid over £8ph even if you aren’t trained in child care.
Aside from advertising yourself, you might want to try creating a profile on Findababysitter.com. It really is easy money (unless you get stuck with the child from hell!).
Dog walking & sitting
If babies ain’t your thing, then maybe canines are… looking after other people’s dogs is big business. Just think that as a student you’re likely to have free time during the day when others are out at work and worried about their pets at home.
You could bag around £7 per dog for an hour walk, and it’s also a great way to keep fit. Join Tailster who will match you up with dog owners. Alternatively advertise your services locally with fliers or on classified websites such as Gumtree.
Become a freelance interviewer
Do you have ambitions to take on a career in HR? Do you love asking questions? Believe it or not, there are companies that will ask you to carry out interviews for them and pay you for your time. It couldn’t be simpler.
You could make £185 a week plus have your travelling costs covered. The downside is that you will have to commit to at least 20 hours a week, so make sure that you have the time! Apply at NatCen.
Rent out your house for filming
Directors for TV and film are always on the hunt for houses to film in. For instance, a scene for Coronation Street was recently filmed in the student house one of the Save the Student editors used to live in!
Not only can you make good money but it’s crazy seeing your own place on TV. Start out by looking at this site.
Rent out your body
According to our recent survey, 7% of students use their body in some way to make a buck.
If you are comfortable taking off your kit then why not try life modelling. Sit there in the buff while budding artists capture your every curve (or pokey bits) in frightening detail! Try RAM, a website especially designed for these kind of jobs.
You could also get involved in clinical drug trials. If this scares you a little then you can find more information here about what’s involved.
Warning: Do not do anything you are not comfortable with, no matter how desperate you are for money! There has been an unhealthy rise in student prostitution in recent years – do not fall victim to it!
Freelance work
Perhaps you enjoy writing, managing Facebook pages or doing a little bit of graphic design in your spare time. There are so many freelance jobs out there that require simple skills or just time that someone else might not have.
And the best thing about freelancing is that you can work for clients in the UK and around the world with just an internet connection from home, to your own hours whilst developing valuable skills.
A great place to start is with the leading freelance site Upwork.com. Or try using our student job search to find freelance jobs closer to home.
Busking
If you can sing or dance then this is your time to shine baby! Did you know that Justin Bieber started off busking? That’s right, with a little work you can be as annoying as him.
There are really no tips for this except choose a good spot with high footfall, make sure you are good and play your heart out. Some buskers in the past have been known to make upwards of £20 hour.
Sell clothes on eBay
Everyone’s best friend when it comes to getting rid of junk is eBay. Online auctions are a sure-fire way to turn that sleeveless jacket (which came in and out of fashion in a week) into hard cash.
Some eBay sellers look at trends and try to predict what will be big ahead of the market. If you are good and don’t mind taking a risk then you can buy early in bulk and sell on when the craze hits.

Sell your stories and videos
If you have an interesting story then you could try selling it to the papers. It could be anything from sleeping with a professional footballer to getting caught in a clothes horse!
One of the Save the Student team was unfortunate enough to have a pigeon fly through and smash their window at university and sold the story to The Sun for a tidy £50.
You could also film your mates at all times and send it into You’ve Been Framed to net yourself £250 and a few seconds of fame.
YouTube videos
According to recent stats we now watch more videos on YouTube than searches on Google. And with the recently introduced YouTube Partner Program you can now profit from making and uploading videos. You will receive a percentage of the advertising revenue collected per 1,000 views.
Depending on how successful you are (virality, subscriber base and topic) you can make a lot of money, and there are plenty of stories every week of more and more YouTubers making it their career.

Network marketing
Also known as Multi-Level Marketing (MLM), this is a business model that allows you to generate ongoing income in two ways: by making a commission selling products and by recruiting other members who go on to sell. The later allows you to make money from the sales made by those you have recruited.
Importantly, this is not a pyramid scheme (they are illegal) because there is an end goal which involves a customer buying a product or service of value.
It’s also not a ‘get rich quick’ scheme. You will have to work I’m afraid! However with the growth of social media, network marketing is becoming easier and lots of people are now making a decent living from it.
This is a serious way of making good money on your own terms and it’s well worth reading up on it. I recommend getting “The Business of the 21st Century” by Robert Kiyosaki.
Source property for wealthy investors
We all know how much money there is in property, but on the surface (with house prices as high as they are) you might be thinking this market is off-limits.
Truth is, lots of people make a great deal of cash simply sourcing suitable properties for wealthy investors who simply have no time.
The trick is to find properties below market value (BMV) by avoiding estate agents and instead flyering your area with your contact details offering to buy houses. Then approach investors with a no-brainer offer to pass on the details of cut-price property in exchange for a % of the sale value.
Most cities will have monthly networking events for landlords and property investors. Track these down, sign up, put on your best suit and go along with lots of business cards. Or you could start on LinkedIn or even Twitter to build some initial contacts.
As you might imagine, this isn’t necessarily a quick way to make money but once you’ve got a few investors in your phone book it can prove to be very lucrative in the long run. If you’re interested, I recommend reading this book.

Face painting can be a good money maker. Have a stall at a market, kids parties, I know someone that has a regular contract at a pub every Saturday 2-4. Not a huge cost to set up, have a few designs kids can choose from. have glitter for the girls.

  From my personal experience I made about £3000+ from using all of these methods and it was a good return for some of my spare time when I was a student.
  I’m not sure I’d see myself as a con artist. If you think that helping people makes me one then you’re welcome to your opinion.

I made 1k in my 1st month of matched betting, the sign up offers should cover over 1k easily. I have mates who gave up work to do matched betting and has been doing it successful over the last year and makes 3x as much money than what he was on. There are so many bookmakers online 50+ That offers come in daily, my inbox is always brimming with bookies trying to get me to bet!!! The key is to do something called mug bets, to keep the bookies sweet, although it’s not illegal they don’t like you doing it and if they get wise to your antics they cap your max bet!!!!

I did matched betting it’s a great way to earn risk free money. There’s always a but though. To do matched betting you need money to ‘lay off’ a bet. For example you might have to lay off £300 just to make £10. But this is guaranteed profit. You have to go round signing up to betting sites and then proving your identity when you want to withdraw. I did make around £200 but got bored because of the lack of decent sign up bonuses

      You are slightly correct. That is why we would advise anyone that feels they cannot stop after making their guaranteed profit to not go through with this.
      It’s worth remembering though that matched betting is not gambling. It’s a risk free guaranteed profit so it’s like comparing apples to oranges.
      You could say the same about companies offering free alcohol or free sweets etc etc etc. As adults we should be able to make the decision on whether we can resist the temptation.

        Jake … how naive are you to think that matched betting is not actually betting??
        Once invested for example £200 (max bet) so you have £400 … the company will not then let you use the £200 which was free for you to withdraw the £200 invested … so you essentially have to spend the whole £400.
        And there is no such thing as a sure win … for example … I challenge you to eat a large sugared jam doughnut without licking your lips … The majority of people would fail this challenge but there are occasionally a few that will succeed and you may be one of them – we dont know until the event happens.
        If I bet on you to lose (as per the majority) with my full £400 however your steely determination pulls through it would mean I lose £200 of my own money that I have invested… so how is that risk free and guaranteed to win?!? You are potentially misleading young gullible people into losing rather than making!!
        As for stating that as adult you should be able to resist temptation, or that they should know that they will become a gambling addict before even having a go … YOU are selling this as a no lose offer and I am sure there are fools out there that will believe you! All I am personally saying is that maybe reword your blog post ….
        Finally .. just a word of caution to all those looking for quick ways to make money … make sure you look at all the t’s and c’s of anything before signing up because generally if it something for nothing or short cuts there will often be pitfalls and consequences!!

        The definition of the word betting involves taking a risk or gambling. Matched betting guarantees a profit 100% of the time so therefore for the risk or gambling is taken away. This is why it is not betting.
        Let me take your jam doughnut example (I would always lick my lips haha).
        With matched betting you need to use the odds to calculate how much to bet on “not licking lips” and it never equals the amount that you put into the back bet. Let’s say that the odds of licking lips = 2.75 and the odds of not licking lips = 2.80 (the lay odds are nearly always higher).
        You would use your FREE £200 bet to say that they’ll lick their lips.
        With the calculations you would then lay £127.27 that they wouldn’t lick their lips (not the full £200 as you incorrectly assumed). You liability though (what you would lose if incorrect on this would be £229.09)
        If they lick their lips you get your winnings of £200 x 2.75 = £550 and then minus the liability and £200 free bet amount which leaves you with £120.91 profit after commissions etc.
        If they don’t lick their lips you lose the £200 (but this was free money) but you win your lay stake of £127.27. Minus the commission and it becomes £120.91 profit.
        You profit exactly the same amount NO MATTER what the outcome is. Therefore the only risk is human error and not following our instructions.
        As for “promoting” the betting sites, it’s something that we thought long and hard about. However, because we are showing students how to make money out of them with no risk at all we felt this was worth it.
        If we were to stop promoting things because of temptation then we would also have to stop promoting food (obesity), alcohol (alcoholism) and many other other things.
        I hope that you will re-read the guide and see that it is in fact 0 risk and everyone who follows the instructions is guaranteed to make money. You can also take a look at the Wikipedia page on matched betting for more impartial info.

With match-betting, if you worked the system everyday, could you make sufficient cash by the end of, say, one week? What if you made multiple bets over a few hours each day? What kind of results could you expect? Lastly, if you kept doing this, would the betting companies eventually tell you to piss off if you’re consistently winning? I know there’s quite a few questions so, but if you could even shed a little light, that would be great!

  Hi Kevin, you can only use free bets to make a profit meaning that they’ll eventually run dry so you can’t do this forever. You can make anything up to £1000 from introductory free bets but then you have to wait for more offer in future (which are few and far between).

  There could be a potential for your daughter to use her writing skills although it is easier said than done as it’s a competitive market. She could look online for copywriting jobs or speculatively contact companies asking if they are after any content that needs to be written.

  Hi Sam, it heavily depends on what terms you search so can be a little hit and miss sometimes. It’s best not to cheat the system but try searching in multiple locations (eBay, Amazon, Google) and use terms like “car insurance” or “silver necklace” etc.

Sounds great in theory, but when you sell those CDs and DVDs aren’t you also selling the right of content ownership? If you sell the item, you shouldn’t retain any copy of it in any format, surely.

  Building a network outside of friends and family is simple through social media. You just have to learn it correctly which doesnt involve spamming people and groups. Dont expect to get rich overnight. Any that say that so are usually here today, gone tomorrow. Research it correctly and join the right business for YOU.   You can request money on eBay in a few ways including credit/debit card, bank transfer, cash on delivery, checks… Just remember that Paypal is one of the safest ways to do it in case a dispute arises.
  Between Gumtree, Amazon and eBay they all have their own qualities. It’s hard to say which is best to sell on without being aware of what it is that you’re selling.

Whilst I think these ideas are great I don’t think it’s massively responsible to encourage gambling. My OH first started with no-risk betting and then onto “sure winners” during our 2nd year of uni and through a series of bad bets lost £10k. I know everyone is control of their own actions but it’s a risky game and you could end up losing £8k when you bet that Man U will SCORE against Norwich!! Just be careful

Yes it’s a grey area talking about matched betting, but we know that lots of students are doing it already and often on bad or fragmented advice which means they make mistakes and end up losing money. This concerns us the most, and so we wanted to create a full step by step guide which is pretty much foolproof for anyone to follow. If done right there is a lot of money to be made here and we can’t avoid that fact, that’s the purpose of this guide
  There is some risk that some users go on to gamble properly but there’s no saying they wouldn’t have done that regardless if they are a natural risk taker. That’s not up to us to judge, but I just wanted to clarify our position on this! As you say, it’s important to be careful.

  To my way of thinking, there are three downsides to this. One, you need to open several bookmaker accounts, (and if its a signup offer, even several accounts with one bookie – not strictly kosher!)
  Second, you need to fund each account AND fund it with a simiilar amount in with the bet exchange, (you are betting say £10 to win with the bookie to get the free bet, and to ‘protect’ the money, placing a £10 lay bet on the exchange) So there’s two financial outlays
  Third, you only have a “paper profit”. Oh, it’s real money … but its tied up in the bookie’s account. So until you go to the bookie and withdraw your winnings back to your bank account, it’s not “ready money” to pay your weekly shopping bill say.
  So if there’s 30 Bookie offers, and each need you to invest AT LEAST £10, and you need the same on the exchanges to finance the lay side of the bets, you’re talking an outlay of £600! True, you don’t have to back each offer at the same time; you could “play up” your match bet offer onto the next bookie … but seems a lot of hassle
